About Baroque Pearls

Each large pearl spends 3 to 5 years inside the largest pearl oyster, Pinctada maxima. These oysters are a treasure in themselves. In natural conditions, these oysters live off the northwest coast of Australia, in very small numbers off the coast of Indonesia and the Philippines, wild Australian oysters, although with difficulty, are cultivated in Thailand and Japan.

The pearl forms around the core in the form of very thin, almost transparent concentric layers of the crystalline form of calcium carbonate - aragonite.
